What Does the Image Resizer Do?
The Image Resizer changes an image's pixel dimensions — by exact width/height or by percentage — using high-quality resampling that keeps edges smooth. An aspect-ratio lock prevents accidental stretching: give just a width and the height is calculated automatically; give both and the image is fitted inside your box without distortion. After uploading, the tool shows the image's original dimensions so you know your starting point.
How to Resize an Image
- Drop your image into the upload zone — its current dimensions appear in the file list.
- Choose Exact pixels (enter width and/or height) or Percentage (drag the scale slider).
- Keep "aspect ratio" ticked unless you deliberately want stretching.
- Click Resize Image — the resized file downloads with its new dimensions in the filename.
Common Target Sizes
- Full-width web hero — 1920px wide covers desktop screens; 2560px for retina.
- Blog content images — 800–1200px wide is plenty and keeps pages fast.
- Social media — 1080×1080 (Instagram post), 1200×630 (link share image), 1500×500 (X header).
- Email signatures & avatars — 400–500px keeps them crisp yet lightweight.
- Print — multiply centimeters by ~118 for 300 DPI (a 10×15 cm print needs ~1180×1770px).
Resizing down (downscaling) always looks clean. Resizing up invents pixels and gradually softens detail — the tool allows up to 200% for emergencies, but shoot bigger when you can.
