What happens to transparency when converting to JPG?

JPG has no alpha channel, so transparent areas are flattened onto a white background. Convert to PNG or WEBP instead if you need the transparency preserved.

Why would I convert WEBP to JPG when WEBP is smaller?

Compatibility. Some desktop applications, older image editors, and document formats still don't open WEBP. JPG opens everywhere, so it remains the safest format for sharing.

Does converting JPG to PNG improve its quality?

No — compression artifacts already baked into the JPG are simply preserved losslessly, usually in a much larger file. Convert to PNG only when you need transparency-capable or lossless output for further editing.

No. Conversion happens in server memory, the result streams straight to your download, and all temporary data is deleted immediately.
